Chakraborty & Sons served as the principal architectural, structural and project management consultant from the Government of India side.
The JICA Building at the National Institute of Cholera and Diarrhoeal Diseases (NICED) represents one of the most significant research infrastructure projects in eastern India. Funded entirely by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the value of approximately Rs 100 crore, this 75,000 sq ft facility stands as India's number-one institute in its field.
J.C. Chakraborty & Sons was designated as the principal architectural, structural and project management consultant from the Government of India side, working in close coordination with CPWD and the Japanese agency.
The 13-month construction timeline followed a full year of weekly Saturday pre-construction meetings with the international team, during which every risk was resolved and every design decision was finalised before construction commenced.
